Windows 10 wants to be the operating system that unifies all kinds of devices, from computers to cell phones and tablets. And universal apps are an important part of this goal.
With Windows 10, universal apps can run through more than one device ecosystem of Windows without the developer having to create different apps and while the user has a similar experience - Microsoft
Windows 10 is the latest version
of the operating system that will be officially launched on 29 July. Microsoft
says that Windows 10 is the operating system that will work in all kinds of
devices (with different screen sizes) and provide a good experience largely
universal apps. But what are the universal apps?
Universal apps allow developers
to create a single app, with a single business logic and a single interface. In
this way, users can use the same app on computers, tablets, mobile, Xbox One,
HoloLens devices and the Internet of Things.
Universal apps Windows 10 have an
interface and controls that automatically adapt the device and screen you're
using - in order to offer a very similar experience.
Likewise, universal apps Windows
10 can be controlled with different input methods that can be used in various
devices, as it can be a keyboard and mouse, a touch screen, gestures or voice
commands.
In addition, these apps can also
take advantage of the various cloud services that use Microsoft, including
Cortana, the storage service (or synchronization) onedrive.
The purpose of these apps is to
allow developers do not have to create different apps for different devices,
while users will pay only once for the app to use in all your devices. The
experience will be very similar across different devices with Windows 10 and
user information can be synchronized so that the files or data you use in each
of the apps available in these applications.
Although Microsoft says that
these universal apps can be developed to suit all devices ecosystem Windows 10,
the most common scenario in which we hope to use these universal apps will be
between computers, tablets and mobile phones.
For example, when using the
Outlook Mail app (Mail or Outlook) on a computer, a tablet or a mobile phone
with Windows 10, the experience is very similar, and that includes to major
gestures - swipe to archive or set mark, for example.
The colors and menus remain the
same design concept, although some are located in different parts, and that
generally the computer is controlled with keyboard and mouse, while a tablet
and the pointer control more often with a screen Touch.

In the Mail app on a Windows 10 computer, the app behaves like a traditional Windows window. You can place it in full screen or part of the screen. |

Because of the smaller screen size, in a cellular Mail at first glance it does not offer the same information on the computer or tablet, but focuses on the main thing while keeping the same design concept and functions. |
This is only a universal app for
Windows 10, but Microsoft expects that over time the number of these apps
increase to offer a similar experience in the various devices of its ecosystem.
In addition, all of my Windows 10 will be located in one place, no matter what
device you use - the Windows Store.
