| This is Cortana, the new Microsoft virtual assistant. |
Forget Siri or Google Now,
because according to Microsoft, the new personal assistant, Cortana, mobile
intelligence has far more than its rivals. Announced at the company's Build
conference in San Francisco, Cortana will come integrated into the new Windows
Phone 8.1 operating system for smart phones and depend greatly on the Bing
search engine and voice recognition technology from Microsoft.
Related to artificial
intelligence of the popular computer game Halo, Microsoft says that Cortana has
the ability to pay attention to what you want, your interests and places you
visit. Based on that, Cortana will offer search suggestions to your needs. In
addition, it will become smarter the more you interact with the system or, I
should say, with "it."
Other skills in the arsenal of
Cortana is the ability to search and monitor your flights, check when are your
upcoming appointments and search the relationship between details related to
serve you better. For example, Cortana can you dive into the details of
appointments to tell you to call the restaurant where you plan to eat and
adjust the reservation if necessary.

In addition, you can use Cortana
for typical tasks of an assistant voice and save calendar notifications, among
other things. Microsoft expects Cortana really stand out from other solutions
in its ability to understand context.
For example, you can tell that
generates reminders Cortana focused on people in particular. Specifically ask
the tool that reminds you ask your sister about your pet the next time you
call. Cortana is supposedly smart enough to understand a variety of questions
using natural language. Users can tell you, "Facebook, what about X
person?" Cortana and initiate a report on the latest activities of that
person on Facebook.
It all sounds very futuristic,
but do not get too excited. Microsoft explains that the function Cortana is
still officially in beta, so we assume that there are still things to correct.
Also, we could not confirm whether it will be available in Spanish, although
our preliminary investigations indicate no.
